When You Can't See What God Is Doing

3 min read

There are seasons when God's presence feels unmistakable.

The prayer gets answered. The door opens. Something finally makes sense, and you can look back and say, Oh. That's what God was doing.

And then there are the other seasons.

The ones where you pray and nothing seems to change.

Where you're trying to trust God while quietly wondering why He would allow your story to look the way it does.

Where everyone tells you to "have faith," but faith feels much harder when you're standing in the middle of something you desperately wish God would fix.

I've learned that grace isn't always found in getting the answer I wanted.

Sometimes grace is what carries me while I'm waiting for one.

Faith doesn't require having all the answers

For a long time, I thought strong faith meant being certain.

Certain that everything would work out.

Certain about what God was doing.

Certain about where my life was going.

But some of the deepest parts of faith have actually happened when I wasn't certain at all.

I've had moments when I've questioned.

I've been angry.

I've wondered why certain things happened to me.

I've wondered why God didn't intervene differently.

And I've had seasons when I couldn't understand how anything beautiful could possibly come from what I had experienced.

But somehow, God kept meeting me there.

Not after I had figured everything out.

There.

In the questions.

In the grief.

In the mess.

In the becoming.

Maybe God is working somewhere you can't see yet

A seed underground doesn't look like much.

From above the soil, it can look like absolutely nothing is happening.

But beneath the surface, roots are forming.

Something is preparing to emerge.

I think parts of our lives can be like that too.

There are things happening inside of us that we don't recognize as growth until much later.

Maybe you're learning boundaries.

Maybe you're discovering who you are.

Maybe you're becoming more compassionate because you know what pain feels like.

Maybe you're learning that surviving isn't the same thing as living—and you're finally beginning to build a life you actually want to be present for.

You may not be able to see the finished picture yet.

That doesn't mean God has stopped working.

Grace for right here

One of my favorite reminders in Scripture comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9:

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

I love that God doesn't say, Become strong enough and then come back.

He offers grace in the weakness.

Right where we are.

So if you're currently living through a chapter that doesn't make sense, I hope Gracivelle can be a place where you don't have to pretend that it does.

You can have faith and questions.

You can trust God and still hurt.

You can be grateful for how far you've come and still grieve what happened along the way.

You can be healing and still have difficult days.

Your story doesn't have to be finished for grace to be present in it.

Maybe someday you'll understand exactly what God was doing in this chapter.

Maybe parts of it will always remain a mystery.

Either way, you don't have to wait until everything makes sense to believe that something beautiful can still be growing.

There is grace here, too.

End-of-post reflection:

For Your Journal

What part of your life feels unfinished right now? What might it look like to give yourself permission to trust God without needing to understand the entire story?
